SoftBank Invests $10 Billion in OpenAI, Expands AI Holdings

SoftBank Group is issuing 1.76 trillion yen in bonds to finance a further $10 billion investment in OpenAI, marking its largest simultaneous bond offering. This move accelerates CEO Masayoshi Son's strategy to build a global AI, semiconductor, and data center empire. SoftBank has also acquired AI chip developers Graphcore and Ampere Computing to bolster its semiconductor capabilities.
